Sounds like fun. Might be able to do a morning at Elton Res if it's at the weekend.

I'll stake out Corn Bunting/Yellow Wag & Yellowhammer for you on Carrington Moss. Close to car parking so should be a short stop with the odd potential bonus bird...

Was just compiling a list of what species are dooable on the day - i got over 100 but would have to be very lucky and quick on the day, im well up for it but will have to nail the 'western specialties' - i.e corn bunts, yellhammers and yell wags to work out the exact plan - im not at all familar with those in manchester.

Steve Collins and I managed 74 in Rochdale alone - and here we dont have most of the ducks to go out and reedbed species - reed warbler, etc

Think ill have a crack in Maysmile.gif

anyone want to join me......please!

Dave

i think 107 is feasible in the county. It would have to be a full day in early may, doesnt include anything unexpected (so could well be higher) but every one of those 107 would have to be accessible and some of those easy looking ones never are when it comes down to it.

So, who's it gonna be?

we did 112 once across nw of england(including west yorkshire-morcambe bay ,leighton moss, martin mere) in a day bird race mid 1980s-myself ,paul browne, john baxter, and dave hawkins, and me, paul browne and paddy baglee did 97 on pushbikes around leigh area(furthest we went was risley moss, penny flash leightshaw flash) in the mid 80s and by 1pm me and browny was in the chat moss inn downin a few pints and paddy had gone to meet one of his lady friends so that was 97 in half a day beat thatbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Sounds like a Mad and Cool idea at the same time, we could have a winter overkill Spring one etc
always wondered if you could do 100 in a day in the north-west, but with proper coverage would it be possible in GM, I,d be up for itbiggrin.gif
could even get sponsered and raise money for work!

I'm not much for listing, but given the superb coverage that Gtr Mcr is getting at the moment, I wonder how many someone could rack up if they were to spend the day listing, moving from site to site but with the local site watchers on each site using mobiles to update on what's about, staking out the trickier birds etc.

It would give a really good bench mark for what an unassisted good total would be...?
