Secondhand info from my Girlfriend but she said there were some Waxwings in Eccles at 13:00 today. Probably nr the tram/bus stop, or on the bus route to the Trafford Centre.
A Peregrine and a Sparrowhawk briefly circled each other over the Arnold Clark garage on Liverpool street this afternoon at 14.20. The Peregrine headed off towards Salford University and the Sparrowhawk flew towards Manchester.
A male Sparrowhawk tried to catch a Starling perched on one of the large floodlights on Asda car park near the Trafford centre at 15.35 this afternoon. It missed and sent up at least 200 Starlings into the air.
As I was leaving work this afternoon at 4pm, two Buzzards flew low over the EMR scrapyard on Liverpool street. One perched on the Gasometer while the other was being mobbed by 3 Magpies. The Magpies got too close and the Buzzard twice turned on its back as it was flying and tried to catch one of the birds. Eventually both Buzzards flew off towards Weaste
Pitty about the yellow legged....just a handfull of gulls...and lads playing soccer plus a labrador that chased everything! I wandered down toward the University and fields around, but no joy.
Adult Yellow-legged Gull on playing fields by River Irwell, 200 yards north of castle irwell student village and showing well at 12pm, with 42 Lesser Black-backed, 2 Common and c50 Black-headed Gulls.
32 Canada geese in two flocks [11+21] flew very low at about 25m over my workplace on Liverpool Street this morning at 6.15am. They were heading towards the Irwell at the Crescent.

I also saw 2 Buzzards, probably the same birds as you saw over the Ski centre and then the Trafford centre just a little earlier than you at 15.10 this afternoon.
Spectacular display of 2 large groups of House Martins (circa 400) and approx 50 Swallows between 8am and 10am feeding up on the insects over Weaste ETW this morning. The strong winds cornered the insects against the taller buildings on Eccles New Rd leading to the House Martins flying within inches of the office windows and nearby industrial units. Also probable Peregrine over Cargill (next to Centenary Bridge) at 4.30pm.
Two Peregrines flying together very high over Liverpool street and Regent road this afternoon. First seen at 14.05 then again later at 14.50 as they circled around.
There were about 200 gulls present in the car park by Bailey's on the Ordsall side of the River Irwell, viewable from Ordsall Lane (A5066) early afternoon
I didn't have time to check them, but might be worth a look

Female Peregrine sat atop Allied Mills building off Centenary Circle 1730 today, 200+ Black Head Gulls at Weaste Sewage Works. 20 Cormorant perched up on Mode Wheel Locks.
Weaste Sewage Works looks like a bit of a revelation !
Prior to recent visit I had been there once about 3 years ago, but access/viewing was very difficult, however now there is a raised Media City link road adjacent to the site, that affords panoramic views of the site & of the adjacent Manchester Ship Canal
Anybody else visited or watched the area in the past ? This site is another in Salford that looks like it has much potential
