i am guessing they must have roosted that day somewhere around moss side. they were not heading for chorlton directy. i hope they survive. its got a lot colder now but im pretty much sure the cold wont be too bad for them as it can get very nippy in some areas of the indian and pakistani plains they are found in although snow and strong winds are less.
I'm glad the Parakeets are still around. I've not checked Chorlton Park for a while nor heard any recent news. I wonder if they are roosting on the island in Platt Fields or flying out elsewhere ?.

was in rusholme yesterday and today - around m14 - platt lane/head place
yesterday hundreds of b h gulls, in platt field park about 3pm
as for today turned out to be a surprising day - was in the same area just after 3.15 and i heard a screeching/whistling call and i looked up and i saw 4 birds flying - then i remembered that there are parakeets in the area. they were probably flying from platt fields park and were heading towards moss side
15 minutes later same call and i looked up and manage to see another pair heading that way and - they were definitely parakeets
there were once again a very large number of b h gulls in platt field maybe with come common gulls?? plenty of larger gulls in the air too - coul dno tidentify if they were herring or lbb gulls...
and driving up the m66 northbound and a dark medium sized owl flew out on from the trees on the bury turn off and crossed the motorway about 7pm
