There seems to have been a lot left out in this years' Autumnwatch. A mate of mine accidentally knocked Mr. Oddie with his car door while they were filming at Mere Sands Wood the week before the series started (apparently Kate Humble was most amused) but nothing from there appeared on the programme. Said friend was then accussrd of "stalking " them when he followed them down a public footpath while checking out a route to be used by his local walking group the following Sunday!
Went yesterday, Friday 9th Nov. According to Whooper Swan counter and ring reader in Raines Obs., they are going to use the decoy "Mallards" on Tuesday morning, during the swan feed. Had a look inside the studio. Looks much tidier without Oddie sat in there. All in all a great day with 2 Peregrine, 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard and 1 Hen Harrier, as well as a very tame goldcrest, seen within a couple of feet along walkway to the Raines Obs.
Thought the show would be full of "Kate's Beaver" inuendo but amazingly they are keeping straight faces when talking about them. There's even a "Snatch of the day" slot, Phnaw phnaw
Seriously, not much footage from MM most of the filming seems to be from Marshside. I find the whole thing a bit silly at times. Although there are some decent features, John Aitcheson's storm film tonight was very good.
Had a look at the message boards more comments about Bill Oddies hair than owt else
As for Megson, i didn't want him but can't knock him so far
Just watched Autumn Watch for the second time. 3 complaints;; 1. No reference to Kates beaver, Im sure someone posted about this in the past!!!!!!!(who is the guilty poster?) 2.Why during the whole programme was there almost no filming from Martin Mere itself? 3.Why was there no reference to the bird disturbance at salford keys this summer??(making no space for birds) 4.Not a complaint, cant believe Bolton now love Megson!!!!!!
