There were 11 Cormorants loafing on a stone spit adjacent Clippers Quay, opposite the Samuel Platt Pub today, viewed from the pub on Trafford Wharf Rd. One had a white Darvic ring which I couldn't read as I only had bins with me. I know we have some birders on this forum who work in the vicinity, if so please look out for this bird and if you get a chance to read the letter with a scope we can find out where it came from. NB Sometimes they sit on top of the globe lamps along the Irwell between the city centre and the Quays basin - these lamps are always lit and I suppose the glass must be pleasantly warm to their feet!
