2 Little egret in the paddocks west of the Greyhound, 4 in the triangular field east of there and a single Great White Egret in the usual larger field just east of the brook. All c.10.qp this am.

15 Little egret in the field west of the Greyhound just before 11am this morning, 2 more in the small triangular field just east of the Greyhound and single Great White egret flew from it's usual field onto the brook here.

In the field NE of the Greyhound the two Great White Egrets were present at 2:40pm and in the fields south of Hope Carr along the A580 were two Little Egrets

Tues 6th Jan
A delivery in Leigh on way back from Liverpool. 15 min tacho break needed so parked up near The Greyhound.
Very active place and all seen within minutes and not far from the roadside.

- Great White Egret on the brook
- Little Egret further up
- 2x Jack Snipe on mud
- 1 Kingfisher near GWEgret (see image)
- small flock of Siskin over (calling)
- 1 Grey Wagtail
- 1 Peregrine over
- 6 Goosander
- c25-50 Teal
- c15 Gadwall

Great White Egret on the Pennington Brook just east of Warrington Road late morning today.

Also, four Little Egrets in the field west of the Greyhound, south of Hope Carr at 14:35 and still present there at 16:25.

This afternoon around 14:30:

Great White Egret on the embankment of the Pennington Brook again (as per the 29th November), just east of the Warrington Road bridge, along with two Little Egrets on the brook itself.

Also a further 7 Little Egrets in the usual fields off the East Lancs Road, just west of the Greyhound Roundabout, so 9 in the immediate area in total.

No Little Egrets in the field off the East Lancs road mid afternoon but a Great White Egret stood on top of the built up banking of the Glazebrook.
