Took the dog for a walk along the Bridgewater Canal and back along the old railway (marked as Trans Pennine Trail on the Carrington Moss map) this afternoon. All field numbers are taken from that map which is in the "Sites and Maps" section of the website.
Lapwings in fields 48, 141 and the unnumbered one across the road from 123. All will presumably have eggs or young chicks, and I watched the one in 141 chasing off a crow (seemingly successfully). I'll keep an eye out for the chicks over the next few weeks.
4 Yellowhammers singing in trees and on fence posts in 50, 49 and 48.
Hope to get out there more often in the next few weeks to compile a proper list.
