Barton Moss Road1430 - 1540, highlights: three yellow wagtails in potato fields just South of the motorway, one tree pipit in the rough pasture immediately South of that.

Astley Sand Quarry lake 467 large gulls mainly Lesser Black Backed, 3 Great Black Backs and approx 40 Herring Gull. 526 Canada Geese, 108 Greylag Geese inc a few young birds. 2 Comorant and an Oystercatcher. The family party of Shelduck still present,all the young fully grown now
At the NE corner of the mosses near to Boothstown, Willow Tit along Stirrup Brook, a pair of Stock Dove around a dead tree with cavities, female Yellowhammer and c400 Woodpigeon feeding on stubble
Astley Moss East Sand Quarry Lake at least a 1000 big gulls on mainly Lesser Black Backs, about 100 Herring Gull and 5 Greater Black Backs. 49 Greylag,several hundred Canada Geese,5 Mallard ,1 Little Grebe and a single Shelduck. Good numbers of hirundines feeding over the lake,mainly Swallows with a few House Martins as well.

618 large gulls,mainly Lesser Black Backed with reasonable numbers of juvs with them. Also at least 400 large gulls flew off just as i arrived.
Still 10 Shelduck,1 Black Necked Grebe(juv),1 Little Grebe, 2 Redshank(1 ad/1 juv),7 Greylag Geese ,1 Tufted Duck and several hundred Canada Geese.
Astley quarry lake 1032 large gulls inc 1 2nd summer great black back,mainly Lesser Black Backed and reasonable numbers of young with them. Also 2 black headed gulls. 10 shelduck,8 fully grown young and 2 adults,a few Greylag Geese and larger numbers of Canada Geese.

280 large gulls on the water,inc plenty of juv Lesser Black Backs,but gave them a good scoping and nowt with them.
Still 4 young Shelduck,a few Mallard and plenty of Canada Geese with a few Greylag
Smaller numbers of large gulls on the Sand Lake on Astley Moss East this early afternoon but the first-summer Caspian Gull was again present for a short while, though typically for this site at some distance (poor video grabs attached). Also, two Common Sandpipers, a Redshank, 12 Greylag Geese and a Yellow Wagtail.
Amongst just over 1100 large gulls on Astley Moss East Sand Quarry Lake this afternoon was a second calendar year Caspian Gull. Also a single Great Crested Grebe and Little Grebe.
