i did the eco bird race on bike yesterday (06/05/07), spur of the moment decision, started out about 5:30am, went across the mosses to astley peat pools, up to boothstown and then followed bridgewater canal, then to buile hill park, recorded 59 species - highlights were corn bunting & tree sparrow barton moss, cuckoo at botany bay wood, pair of common buzzard in twelve yards wood, lrp & rp at astley, sedge warbler at boothstown, willow tit at booths hall bridge and kingfisher at dukes wharf; full account to be posted soon........
could have been quite a lot more if done more planning and weather had been better (had north westerly wind and rain most of afternoon and evening), but the bar has now been set
thanks to everyone that helped me out with info.........

Some time soon, when I get the chance, going to do a Salford Eco Bird Race ie: a full days bird race in the borough of Salford using "eco friendly" means ie: foot and bike
If anyone has any sightings from the Salford area that might be able to help me out that have not previously been mentioned please list here.
I'll post an account after the race happens.........
