Saw a pair of Oystercatchers mating on the roof of an industrial unit at Wardley Industrial site in Swinton tonight at 17.50 pm.They normally mix with the Lapwings which nest on some of the units but I have also seen them walking around the BOC carpark a couple of times.

Along Moss lane and Rindle road in Astley tonight between 19.15 and 20.15 I watched 3 different Barn Owls hunting, 2 of the Owls were successful in catching prey. 1 Owl flew over the fields containing a least 20 pairs of Lapwings ,each pair defending their own little piece of field.Nearly all the Lapwings flew up at the same time and chased the Owl from the field, they then started arguing amongst themselves , lots of displaying and chasing before they settled down
