Osprey circling slowly over Smithills Moor, drifting gradually west 11:55-12:00.
Other birds included an adult Mediterranean Gull circling low over Scout Rd quarries among Black-Headed Gulls, 5 Raven over Smithills and 30 Swift feeding Walker Fold

2 Ring Ouzels (male and female), still present though elusive above Montcliffe and also getting in fields behind Heather Hall, also 28+ Wheatear around the area, 3 singing Grasshopper Warblers.
2 Ring Ouzels (female Scout Road, male Mast Road cattle grid, then flew towards Adams Hill / Montcliffe area) 13 Wheatear scattered around (Dave Sherrington also had 2 at Slack Hall) 1 male Stonechat 4 Greylag Geese landed on Fleet Moor before flying NE. 3 singing Grasshopper Warblers (Dave Sherrington also had 1 at Burnt Edge) 3 Oystercatcher

1 Wheatear at Heather Hall 0830 today but no sign of Ring Ouzel.

3 Ring Ouzels mobile between Heather Hall, Montcliffe and Slack Hall. 11 Wheatears including 4 around Heather Hall, 3 Adams Hill and 2 Scout Road quarry field 2 Oystercatcher 1 singing Grasshopper Warbler 6+ singing Willow Warbler
4 male Ring Ouzel just inside Lancashire along Georges Lane, north past the kennels in hawthorns and fields just to the right of track which runs down the slope just past the conifer plantation.
Lovely warm day yesterday 8/4/2018 at Holdens Farm. 2 swallows on wire in front of farm 2pm till 4 pm ish then disappeared. One this afternoon flying around farm buildings.
Winter Hill Mast compound area - 3 Wheatear on dividing wall between GM and Lancs (then flew north) and 1 with GM area.
Georges Lane - I bumped into a fellow birdwatcher there at around 8.20, he (like I ) was hoping for Ring Ouzel, but he had only seen 1 Lesser Redpoll. 2 minutes after talking to him a Ring Ouzel flew over and landed in a tree on top of the bank in front of me. I also saw 8 Lesser Redpoll and 1 Green Woodpecker.

Had a walk yesterday from walker fold wood up to the mast and back.

But the highlight was a short eared owl seen for 5-10 minutes on the opposite side of mast road but parallel with 2 lads. Brilliant to watch it quartering and even my wife and daughter were impressed!!!!

1680 Pink-footed Geese ESE 26 Whooper Swan SE 1 male Ring Ouzel in field next to Scout Road quarries. 1 Snow Bunting east over Dean's Ditch 62 Fieldfare, where are they all this winter? 34 Chaffinch north
Dan Brown had a Red Kite over his Horwich garden heading low towards George's Lane but we couldnt pick it up despite is being near Wilderswood at the time.

An impressive flock of c1000 Pink-footed Geese SE over the mist was impressive, total of 1155 SE and 23 NW 1 adult Mediterranean Gull flying south with Black-headed Gulls.
Very quiet both days at weekend for me and Andy, 2 Crossbills at Wilderswood on Saturday morning.

6000+ Pink-footed Geese, huge super skiens across Manchester and over us all SE, apart from 55 that went NW 1 Shelduck west over the moor, a vis mig first 3 Goosander south 7 Whooper Swans SE, right over us. 25 Fieldfare north, 8 south 42 Redwing north, 7 east A phenomenal movement of Chaffinches, with 1358 north up to 11.30am, and only 51 south 16 Hawfinches north, on exact same flight line as the Chaffinches, 7 north at 09:11 and 9 north at 09:40. 65 Siskin north! 2 Brambling north 3 Crossbill south
Male Merlin and 3 Peregrines present.
