On the opposite side of the road to the flooded field, I counted 32 Fieldfare at 16:45 today. The flood itself was disappointing: just a few Woodpigeon on the surrounding field and three yarellii Pied Wagtails on the edge of the water.
From the roadside I could see another smaller, more distant, body of water, with two Lapwing close by. I didn't have time to walk across to check it out.
The place looked great for an early wheatear/sand martin but no sign just yet and no sign of the Little Ringed Plover (probably that one at Astley!), better luck next time. Cheers Henerz
