RE: Boothstown Bridgewater Canal and Marina area

During a bike ride along the Bridgewater canal near the bridge that leads to Vicars hall gardens (west of Boothstown) I disturbed a female Goosander that made a hasty retreat to the undergrowth on the opposite banking.

A tern flew west along the canal at c 2:30 pm. I only picked it up after it had flown past so my view was limited to get a positive ID of Common or Arctic. Felt more like the latter.
Walked from the Marina to Astley Green. Not much else noteworthy.

2 Cuckoos off Vicars Hall Lane towards Keepers cottage, 1 singing male watched for a good 5 minutes perched in a tree dropping down into long grass catching caterpillars, the second bird was seen as I turned to walk back up the lane on the opposite side of the lane, initially looked like a male bird but with the sun illuminating its tail feathers their looked to be a rufous brown edge, So potentially a grey female.
