The fields around Goyt Hall Farm were a regular breeding site for Yellow Wagtails until the late 1980s.

A male Yellow Wagtail early morning in the stony part of the field adjacent to Pear Mill, flew off low over the Electricity substation east towards Bredbury Hall and the farms.

I have contacted the National Bird Register who confirmed that they have been aware of it since June, and have received 10 reports of the bird. They do not know who the owner is.

The harris hawk has been around the elm tree road and sandringham road area of lower Bredbury for at least a month now with bells attached, my parents see it regularly but I'm yet to see it. No one seems to be missing it, I had one visit my my garden a couple times about 2 years ago when i lived on woodbank avenue the next road over from marina drive, perhaps its living wild.

Harris's hawk seen in large Oak just off Marina Road.

The bird has straps and bells attached so someone will be missing this escaped bird.

It eventually flew off over Broadway towards Morissons, and despite a short search I was unable to relocate it.

If you are in the area keep a look out.

An Osprey flew low South over Stockport Road West, Lower Bredbury at 3.35 pm today, being mobbed by two Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

A Peregrine caught a feral pigeon around the electricity sub station, then plucked it on the grass next to it.

A Parakeet was seen in a tree on Marina Road this morning as I left for work. I was unable to see any colours of the bird as it was silhouetted against a bright white sky. It then flew off in the direction of Stockport Road.

Swifts are in good numbers now too. Also, a Blackcap and Goldcrest have been heard regularly calling from a nearby garden.

A pair of Dippers and a Kingfisher on the river Goyt near Pear Mill this morning whilst I was doing a spot of fishing.

Also around 60+ Pink-footed geese over.

6 brown trout on the hook too !! smile

Swift numbers over Bredbury are increasing by the day.

Yesterday evening I watched one flying low between the houses on my road looking for a nesting site. On several occasions it tried to get in through the eaves of my next-door neighbour's house and in to the roof space. Hopefully it will find a suitable hole. unfortunately my house has soffits and facias, so I won't be getting any nesting in my roof. no

At least 8 Swifts over my back garden last night signalled the arrival of the Bredbury summer resident population. A month later than in some previous years.
