Worsley Woods 11-13.45. Buzzard, Sparrowhawk (f), 2 Bullfinch, Treecreeper, Jay. The Dam. Initially I only could find 17 Common snipe but luckily a Buzzard decided to land right in the middle of them causing an eruption of Snipe. As they flew a couple of laps around the dam I counted 63 until they flew out of sight only to return a minute later. I counted 74 as they returned back to their favourite place in the cover to the right of the wooden jetty. I don't think that I have ever seen this many Snipe before around the dam.

Tonight whilst coming home from work around 7:30pm along Leigh Road (Millionaires Row) I noticed a bird swoop down over the pavement at head height from a tree and suspected what it was. It perched up on a tree stump in the wooded area of Leigh Road in clear view and as I passed looked at the car, a fantastic Tawny Owl!

Back end of Worsley Woods. Between 2-4ish at the Greenleach entrance.

Usual stuff on the way in nuthatch, great and long tail tits.

A moorhen perched half way up a tree had me confused for minute or so.

On the dam, several teals, tufted ducks and a single heron. A sparrowhawk over (f).

Cheers, Jay

Worsley woods this afternoon.

Treecreepers x2, Bullfinch x 2, Sisk in, Grey wagtail, Goldcrest.

On the dam.

17 Teal, 4 Tufted duck, Little grebe, 7 Snipe, 3 Herons and the usual Black headed gulls. It's a shame that some of the railings have been removed around the lake as dogs were swimming in the water near the wooden platform disturbing the 4 Mute swans.

Also I flushed a Woodcock in the old figure of 8 area in Wardley woods on the way home.

A Green woodpecker was a nice find this morning, seen in a small stubble field next to the motorway.

Follow the woods path to Roe green until the small wooden bridge. Cross over to the other side and follow the path back towards Worsley woods. This path rises up to the motorway, the stubble field is on the right just before the path drops down to the stream and the tunnel.
